Frequently Asked Questions
General
Does TASL only work with school districts?
TASL works with organizations that believe strong communities are built through relationships. We partner with nonprofits, schools, early childhood providers, faith-based organizations, corporations, and community groups to strengthen connections with children, families, and the communities they serve.
Through workshops, conferences, team-building experiences, and community engagement strategies, TASL helps organizations create spaces and events where people feel valued, heard, and connected. We believe the strongest partnerships are built with communities, not simply for them.
How are TASL programs different from traditional workshops or presentations?
TASL does not offer one-size-fits-all programs. We create customized, bilingual, and culturally responsive experiences designed to meet the unique needs of each community, school, or organization.
By combining professional expertise with lived experience, we build trust, encourage meaningful participation, and create opportunities for leadership and long-term engagement. Our interactive workshops, conferences, and team-building experiences go beyond information sharing—they create connections and strengthen communities.
Can I work with TASL if I’m outside the United States?
Yes! TASL works with organizations and communities beyond the United States, with a special connection to Mexico. Three of our founders are originally from Mexico and bring deep knowledge of the country’s educational system, culture, and language. Our bilingual expertise allows us to create meaningful programs, workshops, and engagement strategies that connect with families, schools, and communities internationally.
For Organizations & Community Partners
What results can we expect after implementing family engagement strategies?
Effective family engagement strategies lead to stronger relationships between families, schools, and communities. Organizations can expect increased family participation, improved communication, stronger trust, and greater collaboration. TASL helps create sustainable engagement systems that empower families and support positive outcomes for students and communities.
When families and caregivers see themselves as collaborators in their child’s education, rather than spectators, engagement grows, attendance improves, and families become more connected to their child’s learning journey.
Lasting change happens when families have a voice and an active role in decisions that impact their children. That shift changes everything. Organizations move from doing things for families to doing things with families, creating stronger partnerships that support students, families, and communities.
How do we know if this program is right for our community?
TASL begins every partnership by listening and learning about the community we are serving. We take time to understand your goals, strengths, and the unique needs of the families and communities you support.
TASL is a strong fit for organizations that believe families are essential partners and want to strengthen relationships, build trust, and create meaningful opportunities for connection and engagement.
Through collaborative planning and customized approaches, TASL works alongside organizations to ensure each program is relevant, practical, and aligned with the community it serves.
Can you deliver workshops in multiple languages and/or for multiple cultures at the same time?
Yes. While our experience shows that participants have the best learning experience when a workshop is delivered in a single language, we can provide simultaneous interpretation in English or Spanish when needed. This allows us to effectively serve multilingual audiences while ensuring everyone can fully participate and engage.
Do you offer virtual programs?
Yes! Most of our programs can be offered virtually through a live-streaming video service.
What kind of space/equipment do we need to provide for TASL conferences and workshops?
In order for TASL to deliver an event that reflects our values, the space should allow for our participants to feel seen, heard, and empowered to learn. Space needs will vary by event size. Generally we will need the following:
- Seating that is flexible so it can be rearranged for group activities (ADA compliant)
- Reliable Wi-Fi
- A/V equipment for presentations (mics, speakers, projector, etc)
- Tables for attendees, registration/welcome table, tables for community partners/resources
- Space for networking
Can you adapt your materials to the specific needs of our school community?
TASL tailors every training to meet the unique needs of each client. Through collaborative planning, needs assessments, and ongoing communication, we customize content, activities, and resources to align with organizational goals, participant experiences, cultural context, and language needs.
Our approach ensures every learning experience is relevant, practical, and immediately applicable while staying true to TASL’s commitment to building strong relationships between families and educational institutions.
Can you collaborate with an existing Family and Community Engagement Department?
Collaboration is at the heart of the TASL mission. We partner with Family and Community Engagement teams to strengthen the important work already happening within districts and their communities. Through customized workshops, event support, engagement strategies, and capacity-building opportunities TASL can serve as an extension of your team.
We bring experience, relationships, and practical strategies to help create meaningful partnerships where families feel valued, heard, and empowered to be active partners in their child’s education. TASL believes the strongest family engagement efforts are built alongside the people doing the work, not delivered to them.
